Steamers work by delivering lethal temperatures to where bed bugs may be hiding. Steam is very effective when bed bugs are on the surface of items and can be effective up to 3/4″ into fabric surfaces. In cracks and crevices, steam will kill bed bugs up to 2-3/8” into a gap.
To effectively kill bed bugs the surface temperature should be at least 160-180°F, and the Cimex Eradicator produces temperatures of up to 356F.
We recommend following the general preparation for any bed bug treatment. Remove bedding and clothing from room, wash and dry clothes for 45-50 minutes. Clean up any general clutter from floors and remove items from top of furniture. However, some pest control companies don’t require removing clothes and bedding, as they prefer to steam them also. It’s just a matter of preference.
We recommend starting from one foot away.
A regular-sized room (bed, dresser, nightstands, closet) should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on how bad the infestation is.
Between 15-20 minutes.
Please do not use any chemicals, essential oils or any other substance other than water in the boiler.
We recommend dumping the remaining water at the end of a treatment if you are not going to use the steamer for the next few days. To extend the life of your steamer, we also recommend the regular use of Kalstop
Yes, most sleeping air mattresses are thick enough to be treated with the Cimex Eradicator. Pool type of floaties, however, are usually too thin and we do not recommend treating those. As usual, please test a small patch first, starting from at least a foot away, before treating an entire area.
The cord is 10 feet long.
The only material we do not recommend treating with the Cimex or any type of steam are books and delicate documents and papers. All other surfaces should be safe, however, we recommend testing the steamer on a small patch of the surface area before beginning treatment.
Regular water is fine. If you live in an area where there is hard water, Regular tap water is fine. To neutralize the effect of minerals, present in the water you put in the boiler, we recommend the use of a decalcifier like Kalstop. You can find more details on this and instructions on how to use it in the Instruction Manual.
The half-gallon tank will last approximately 2 hours of continuous use if you are pressing the button the entire time. That translates into 4-5 hours of work.
Around 15 minutes.
Due to the secondary heating system at the nozzle, which is the Cimex Eradicator’s patented technology, the temperature output reaches up to 356 degrees F/180 celsius.
